Yup. I'm a chicken. Motive, means and opportunity lined up like plebes on the drill field and I couldn't bring myself to step
outside of the comfort zone. Unfortunately, I think I'm more likely to see full planetary alignment than an event like that
again. Such is life.

Jake went to the barber for the first time today. He was a trooper, a model patron. He made me proud. Next time we go
see Carl. This will be Carl's 4th generation clipping on Hughes men. It might seem trivial to some, but in a
world where change is the only constant, even a little point of stability like having the same barber for 23 years is
of huge significants.

Jake's Birthday. Kid's birthdays are a lot of work. It really made me appreciate my mom and all of the things that
she did to make mine memorable growing up. Tracy always asks me why I call her amazing, this weekend is a key example.

Yes. It's been entirely too long sense I've been here. It's been a busy couple of months. Let's try to catch back
up.
March: Got another "All Clear/No Change" from Winship; always a good way to start the month. Tracy turned 29. Dave
was liberated from Earthlink and immediately found another job......... in California.
April: ROADTRIP!!! Took a few days off work to Drive with Dave out to CA. Tracy gave me the plane ticket home for my
birthday. Day one, hauling a trailer across 24 between Chattanooga and Nashville was a bit of a challenge. Got to see
Theresa, Betsy, John Tiffany, and Scott. This was cool. Day two, Went to TX to see Veg. This too was cool. Started
counting Wallmarts on the way which lasted for the rest of the trip. Day three: the service light came on in the car
on the way out of town. Just happened to see a Toyota place and stopped in to find it was no big deal and they took
care of it for us. Almost made me want to buy another Toyota......Almost. Day three was also the long run ....miles
and miles of miles and miles. I had no idea how big this country really is. New Mexico was pretty is a desolate sort
of way, and it was a lot greener than I thought it would be. Arizona was desert...... hundreds of square miles of dirt
and rock with an oasis called Flagstaff. The steak was good and the view was beautiful! Finished up day four with an
all out assault run on LA. Got into LA that evening; Francis got us fed and I got to stick my feet in the pacific. It
was a day of very high highs and very low lows. Day 5 was the trip home. Got up, hit the airport and was in the air in
less than an hour. The day was a mixed bag; I didn't want to stay but It just didn't feel right to leave. Mr. Drake
picked me up
at the airport and we spent the afternoon mulling around Eastpoint. It was a good decompression time. Ended the day at
Triva; I'm not real thrilled with the the game itself, but it's a rare treat for me to see many of triva group. The
next morning I awoke to my 32nd birthday. Another year older, another year wiser and another year of unprecedented
change.

My Son went potty standing up for the first time today. It sounds like a funny thing to be proud of, that is unless
your a father with sons.

On my way out of the movies this weekend, the calendar store in MOG had everything on sale. I always wanted a word of the day
calendar. Purchasing one will by no means make me a polymath (1/3), but will be a good aid to keep my lexical (1/14) skills
lissome (1/4).

I think what probably has to be the greatest complement of a person is for them to become a positive adjective in a household
that is not their own.

Have you ever been in one of those situations where you see the tragedy getting ready to happen but you
are completely powerless to do anything but witness the event? In order for change to remain a constant, periodically,
complacency forces the Power Of Free Will to face off with the Law Of Consequence. Given the right environmental
conditions, this could be the analogical equivalent to dropping a bottle of break fluid into a bucket of Chlorine.
It looks like centerline seats on the glass are available for the first event of 2004. Happy New Year.

Today I spent 12 hours in an airport with several others in the same "stand-by pool" I was in. It's amazing that
total strangers tossed into the same situation instinctively try to help each other. It renews my faith in humanity.

The measure of success is not the number of dollars earned, but the number of lives you have positivly
impacted. We will miss you Gerry!

On my ride home, there are more billboards for the "Who's the Daddy" DNA testing labs then there are for anything
else. Does anyone else see something fundamentaly wrong with this picture?
